Annual Meeting at Arboroads Farms in Ann Arbor Portuguese Party and
Election of New Board for 2012
This year's annual meeting included a Portuguese theme party for the members and their PWDs! It was a lively, social afternoon of eating and laughs! And since several PWDs were at this party, you know there was fun with chaos included!!
THANK YOU to everyone who attended and helped. This is what made this party so fun!
Ronda Ryan organized the party and researched traditional Portuguese recipes. Those who arrived early were treated with Portuguese Sangria! Most everyone was very adventurous and brought a traditional Portuguese dish they selected from the recipes Ronda had gathered. The room was decorated in bright colors with Portuguese background music.
Once all of the food was setup and in its place, we opened the party and meeting with the Portuguese National Anthem. Everyone had fun experimenting with the wide variety of Portuguese food on the buffet. Among these were Holy Ghost Feast Soup, Portuguese Chicken, Seafood Paella, Portuguese Sweet Rice, and so much more! Needless to say, everyone filled up! And we discovered several of us really do have gourmet cooking talent! (Specific names will not be mentioned here, but there were 'counter surfers' spotted near the buffet.)
After lunch, the games began with Scott Lenz winning the Portuguese-English Interpretation. Next, was Portuguese Jeopardy. The Jeopardy competition (and the PWD participants chaos) was fierce, but Vicki Robinson came out the winner of a Portuguese Rooster due to her champion knowledge of Portugal and the PWD breed!!
The Bauer Family took the very strong lead in the Portuguese Party Dog Crate Decorating Contest and walked away with 1st Place!
Bob and Linda Ridderikhoff did a fabulous job coordinating the raffle and donations. Ronda Ryan was the proud winner of the grand prize raffle, absolutely beautiful, model PWD - generously made and donated by Donna Hanners.
The annual meeting portion included the new Board members being voted on by the members. Kim Hanson, acting as our new President, concluded the meeting with a very big thank you and recognition to Stan Liebaert who stepped down as our President. Stan received a standing ovation of appreciation for all of his work, patience, and dedication to the club.
A special thank you from the club to Doug and Ronda Ryan, Stan and Melissa Liebaert, Betsy Hodges, Bob and Linda Ridderikhoff, Stacey Dimmer, and Terry Kamensky for all of their extra help that made this GLPWDC event the success it was!
Special thanks to our out-going Board Members for their dedication and service to the Club for the last year and Congratulations to our Incoming Board - - we look forward to more fun in 2011-2012!
